The division provides consultation and co-management services for multiple nonmedical services throughout the medical center.
Hospitalists provide multidisciplinary care through continuous contact with nursing, pharmacy, case management and social worker staff. Patients admitted to Rush University Medical Center who are either seen in an affiliated internal medicine clinic or who do not have a Rush-affiliated primary care physician will be under the care of a hospitalist physician if admitted to a general medicine service at Rush. In addition to providing excellent inpatient care, the division promotes a seamless transition from the hospital to outpatient follow up with a primary care physician. The Division of Hospital Medicine provides high-quality, evidence-based care only for hospitalized patients.
